A brief history:
In 2024 the President of the SQC created the Champions Committee, with the goal of honouring exceptional individuals or organisations. The Committee awarded the first SQC Champion of the Year to Gisèle Pelicot. In October 2025 the Champions Committee formally split and became independent of the SQC.
The Committee honour those who embody excellence, integrity, and impact in their field—whether through activism, education, research, leadership, or service to humanity. Chosen by the Champions Committee, the award celebrates those whose achievements inspire others and uphold the spirit of those "who have made considerable, outstanding, or exceptional achievements".
