The Champions Committee create a list of nominees over the course of a year, from 20 November - 19 November the following year. On 20 November the Committee must have created a shortlist, after this date no further nominations may be admitted, unless done so by a Committee Member. The Committee may withdraw a candidate from the shortlist if they have been found to not meet the awarding criteria.
Anyone (or organisation) can be awarded as long as they meet just one of the awarding fields, and that their contribution occurred between the 20 November and 19 November of the following year. The Committee do have an awarding criteria that prohibits them from selecting certain potential nominees, however these are kept secret along with the Champions Committee Charter.
You also have to be alive on 20 December to be awarded, the Committee does not issue posthumous awards. Similarly, organisations must not be defunct on or before 20 December.
The Committee welcome nominations from across the globe, and anyone can nominate a candidate.
The Committee will scrutinise all the nominations they receive to ensure that they meet to awarding criteria, set out under the Charter. Nominations from outside the Committee are welcome between the 01 January and 31 October and can be done online, see our nominations page.
